Description

This year MATEC is offering a unique program in honor of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day and we'd like you to attend. The format is a conversation with Derek E Spencer, MS, CRNP who is Executive Director of the JACQUES Initiative (http://www.jacques.umaryland.edu/default.html) at the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine. The topic is Reflecting on and energizing our approaches to the local HIV epidemic in Minnesota to address the greatest challenges. For more information about National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day click here: http://nationalblackaidsday.org/

Mr. Spencer has a history of innovative nursing leadership in HIV testing and treatment. He's an expert in providing care and designing programs to improve outcomes for communities with the greatest need.

I'm looking forward to energizing our work locally by talking with Derek about the following topics:

How he finds meaning, purpose, and energy in this work and what are his         priorities.

What approaches would he like to see more of in the nursing, pharmacy and  public health approach to HIV/AIDS.

What tips and tweaks does he suggest for our current approaches to testing, linkage, and retention in care.

How has he nurtured partnerships with collaborating agencies and professionals in his innovative HIV work.

What is different about his thinking that makes his programming so successful.
