Eskenazi Health

About: MATEC Indiana is a program of Eskenazi Health, with offices located on the Eskenazi Health campus in Indianapolis; and has built relationships with the top HIV clinicians and researchers in the state and our region. We are well-positioned to offer health care professionals targeted training and direct access to expert information. We offer education, training, and capacity building programs specifically designed to improve HIV care, treatment, and prevention services for all levels of health care providers throughout Indiana.
Currently, we receive funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and from the Indiana Department of Health.

Ongoing Program Offerings:

  • HIV 101 - Introductory training covering the basic concepts of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Target audience includes those new to the field of HIV or those needing a refresher, with non-clinical, introductory material. Due to the current COVID-19 situation which limits in-person training, these sessions will be offered virtually via WebEx. Contact Danielle Jacobs-Chan for more information at djacobsc@iu.edu.
  • Indiana Clinician Scholars Program – Regional program designed for front-line clinicians who are interested in expanding their capacity to provide HIV/AIDS care. Scholars receive twelve months of in-depth training on HIV/AIDS diagnosis, treatment, medical management and prevention of HIV infection. Applications accepted each year in late Spring/early Summer, with new cohort starting each September. For more information about applying for the Indiana Clinician Scholars Program, contact Karen Curd at kcurd@iupui.edu.
  • Indiana HIV ECHO – In partnership with the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI, the Indiana HIV ECHO enables rural and traditionally underserved populations to receive high-quality care by connecting expert HIV mentors and multiple local primary care providers in online video-conferencing teleECHO clinics.
